From Saint-Nazaire to Copenhagen, via Amsterdam. Ground Control was on board the first net zero emissions cruise in history, thanks to the latest addition to the MSC Cruises fleet, MSC Euribia.
More than 100 people worked on this ambitious project which culminated in the naming ceremony in Copenhagen on 8th June 2023, World Ocean Day. Ground Control handled the artistic direction and executive production for the event. We began with the Kids Area inauguration, a show with a magical performance by Urban Theory (20 million Tik Tok followers, 2 million IG followers).
We then created and produced the special 3D content for the huge LED screen of the promenade (5520x1080), up to the grand finale, the naming ceremony hosted by Sarah Grünewald, with the Royal Danish Ballet choreographed by Robert Thomsen, a great concert by Tony Hadley (accompanied by the CM Orchestra), an extraordinary performance by singer Pernille Rosendahl, and the incredible elegance and grace of Italian star Sophia Loren, godmother to the entire MSC Cruises fleet.
Now also godmother to MSC Euribia, the first cruise ship with net zero emissions. The night didn’t end after the event, however. A spectacular surprise awaited the MSC Euribia guests: a DJ set by Bob Sinclair with the special effect of the giant screen of the promenade.
